The League of Women Voters of Glen Ellyn and the American Association of University Women Glen Ellyn- Wheaton branch are sponsoring a Workshop " Encouraging Civility: Effective Ways to Communicate Through Our Differences" on Thursday, March 20, 2025 from 7:00-8:30pm, at Hadley Junior High School. Our nation is currently facing a large divide in our country on many issues of importance. The issue is "not only" that we disagree but also "how "we disagree. Learning how to more effectively communicate with those holding different opinions is essential for civil discourse.
This Workshop will utilize The Dignity Index, a tool which helps process coding speech with a goal of changing how we communicate with one another. It's an eight point scale that rates speech from most divisive to most dignified. Lower scores (1-4) reflect divisive language while higher scores (5-8) reflect language grounded in dignity. Workshop attendees will gather in small groups to practice using The Dignity Index. Learning more effective communication techniques to help connect with those holding a different viewpoint encourages civility.
Please join other community members in an interactive workshop that promises to be a very informative evening. The Workshop is an in person event only, and requires an RSVP (see button below) so we can have enough facilitators on hand. Spaces are limited so RSVP early to ensure a spot.
