The Youth Vote Matters!

75% of 18-21 year olds registered to vote in 2020, but only 51% of all ELIGIBLE 18-24-year-olds voted in 2020.  (electproject.org).

2024 Mock Election

Mock elections provide students with background and specifics on the voting process in Illinois: how elections work; how to research candidates; what to expect at the polling place; what happens to your ballot after you vote.

High School Mock Elections for 4,259 Students!

3425 high school students participated in Mock Elections at GB West, GB South and GB East the last week in October. Prior to voting, students viewed our video, “How to Vote in DuPage County” and reviewed a document on referendums. Fifteen LWVGE volunteers, many of whom worked multiple shifts, checked students in, distributed ballots, directed students to voting booths and then to a mock ballot box.

Celebrate by exercising your franchise and your new superpower by registering to vote and then voting!

Lolla Strategy

Engaging young voters traveling to Lollapalooza has become a favorite outreach activity for our Voter Services team. We hand out bilingual cards with a QR code to register to vote to concert-goers heading out on the trains into the city. This allows us to engage with the students to talk about the importance of voting while they wait for their train.

We meet young voters ‘where they are by sharing voting-related photo frames so they can ‘picture’ themselves as the voters they soon will be!

Happy 18th Birthday POSTCARD!

We can provide a special 18th birthday postcard for Social Studies/Gov’t teachers to mail to remind newly 18 year-olds to register to vote. The card uses a QR code to point them to county and state resources to learn more about their voting options.
