LWVGE Statement regarding Village of Glen Ellyn Town Hall election concerns

The League of Women Voters of Glen Ellyn was alerted to an incident of one of the candidates running for Village Trustee being intimidated by a village resident to withdraw their name from consideration at the upcoming town meeting.   This behavior is unacceptable and has no place in our community.  It was plain and simple an attempt to influence the outcome of the town meeting. High School Mock Elections for 4,259 Students!

3425 high school students participated in Mock Elections at GB West, GB South and GB East the last week in October. Prior to voting, students viewed our video, “How to Vote in DuPage County” and reviewed a document on referendums. Fifteen LWVGE volunteers, many of whom worked multiple shifts, checked students in, distributed ballots, directed students to voting booths and then to a mock ballot box.

Awards presented April 2024 at the Annual Meeting. Glen Ellyn, Illinois--Since the year 2000, the League of Women Voters of Glen Ellyn (LWVGE) has recognized outstanding volunteer efforts from among its hundreds of members with an annual awards program. Selected by committee from nominations submitted by the members, the most recent awards were bestowed upon the recipient during the LWVGE’s 2023-24 annual meeting.

Today at the 2024 League of Women Voters of the United States (LWVUS) National Convention, Dr. Sania Irwin was voted in as Vice President of LWVUS for the 2024-2026 biennium. She has leading the 2024 LWVUS convention and doing an amazing job! Sania currently serves as the interim president of the LWVUS, and the chair of the Board of Trustees of the League of Women Voters Education Fund (LWVEF). She joined the League of Women Voters of Glen Ellyn Illinois (LWVGE) in 2018
