LWVGE Statement regarding Village of Glen Ellyn Town Hall election concerns

The League of Women Voters of Glen Ellyn was alerted to an incident of one of the candidates running for Village Trustee being intimidated by a village resident to withdraw their name from consideration at the upcoming town meeting.   This behavior is unacceptable and has no place in our community.  It was plain and simple an attempt to influence the outcome of the town meeting. Instead of interfering, we should be thanking all of these candidates for stepping up and volunteering to serve our community in local government.

The League of Women Voters of Glen Ellyn strongly condemns any candidate or voter intimidation, voter suppression, voter harassment or election interference whether it be at the local, state, or national level. We encourage all citizens to "Use your Voice and Vote" in the general election on Tuesday November 5th and at the town meeting on Saturday, November 2nd. Voting at the town meeting will take place in the Civic Center gym and at the police station from 8:00 am to 2:00 pm on November 2nd.  Candidates will speak from 10:00 to 11:00.  On November 5th polls are open from 6:00 am to 7:00 pm.  Eligible voters can vote at any DuPage election site.
