Social for Trail Enthusiasts
Glen Ellyn Bike/Hike Trails Report Ginger Wheeler 4.7.18 Report on the 4.6.18 Social (See pictures at the end of the article) Along with Active Transportation Alliance (ATA), League helped to publicize a Friday afternoon social for trail enthusiasts around Glen Ellyn. Sid Kenyon, the “Trail Guy” from the DuPage County Department of Transportation was invited and brought some custom maps which show where the long-proposed East Branch DuPage River Trail may be plotted (if it is ever built). County Board District 4 representative Tim Elliott a long time Glen Ellyn resident attended and had some great conversations with Sid and also with a gentleman named Steve Johnson who has also been advocating for trails on behalf of ATA in this area for a long time. About 17 people attended the social including League members: April Sedall, Jo Turner, Amy Hohulin, Patti Denney, Steve Miller, and Kristin Malone. Many thanks to these Leaguers for attending and helping with a good turnout. The next step is to plan a “Progressive Field Trip” which can show people in the community where this trail might actually go. Ginger would like to ask for volunteers to brainstorm and plan how something like this might come together.
