Background: At the 2017 LWVIL State Convention delegates approved a study to update its position on criminal justice. LWVIL’s current position on criminal justice was last revised in 1995. The LWVIL Update Study Committee examined our current position and is proposing additions to or modification of the existing position.

For the past three months our League CJS Update committee has studied the proposed additions to or modifications and held two informational meetings to review the 14 Study Questions.

Your role at the consensus meeting is crucial in order to determine if we have consensus on each question, consensus that we disagree with the question or that there is no clear consensus on the question.

Please plan to attend on January 26th. In preparation for the consensus meeting review the summary of the 14 questions and bring any comments for the record. The more prepared members are, the more seamless the consensus discussion process will be.
