Join members of the League of Women Voters, Glen Ellyn, as we get a special guided tour of this summer’s exhibition, World on the Move. This rare resource comes from the American Anthropological and the Smithsonian’s Center for Folklife and Cultural Heritage. League is thrilled to offer a guided glimpse next month.
Glen Ellyn Public Library has been selected as one of only fifteen libraries in the United States and the only library in Illinois to host the traveling exhibition, World on the Move: 250,000 Years of Human Migration.
By presenting case studies from across human history and an array of cultures, World on the Move invites visitors to recognize that migration is a complex and diverse shared human experience. The exhibition aims to expand the public conversation on the topic of migration and displacement.
“We are so excited to bring this exhibition to Glen Ellyn,” said Library Director Dawn Bussey. “We want visitors of World on the Move to feel safe to discuss issues surrounding migration and to feel proud of their family’s own migration stories. We hope the exhibition will help visitors gain empathy for migrants in our own community and elsewhere.
