League of Women Voters of Glen Ellyn and Elmhurst to Host Judicial Forum
Glen Ellyn, IL – August 27, 2024 – The League of Women Voters of Glen Ellyn and Elmhurst will host a Judicial Forum, featuring Chief Judge Bonnie Wheaton and Retired Judge Tom Dudgeon, on the evening of September 4, 2024. This event provides a unique opportunity for community members to learn more about the Illinois judicial system, ask questions, and understand the judiciary's role in DuPage County.
Judge Bonnie Wheaton serves as the Chief Judge of the 18th Judicial Circuit in DuPage County. With 36 years on the bench, she has extensive experience in various divisions, including Traffic, Misdemeanor, Law, and Chancery. A graduate of Carleton College and Northern Illinois University College of Law, Judge Wheaton has presided over cases that have shaped the legal landscape in the region.
Retired Judge Tom Dudgeon, a former Associate Judge of the 18th Judicial Circuit, has had a distinguished career in law and education. After earning his law degree from Drake University, he served as a trial attorney and later became a judge, presiding over various court divisions in DuPage County. He was instrumental in developing nationally recognized programs in family law. Since retiring, he has taught Constitutional Law and American Federal Government at local universities.
